Richard Oceng
Richard Oceng is a Ugandan by nationality, an Acholi by tribe. He was born in Gulu District, which was heavily affected by the LRA (Kony) War and grew up in the Pabo IDP Camp because of the insurgency that was taking place in Northern Uganda. He went to Pabbo Primary School for his Elementary Learning. He later proceeded too Restore Leadership Highschool form 2010 to 2015, a school built by Bob Goff and Professor Danny Dewalt. Oceng then went to Uganda Christian University to study law. He graduated with a bachelors degree in law from Uganda Christian University on the 18th of December 2020 and later enrolled for a post-graduate diploma in legal practice (Bar Course) at Law Development Centre. He passed his bar exams on his first attempt. Oceng is a founder of a youth group called Restorative Leadership Development (RLD), which aims to build Christian leaders with the hope of transforming Uganda. Author of the book Never Give Up - You can Achieve Your Dreams, Even in a Chaotic World, Richard’s work has impacted many.
He is currently serving as an attorney (advocate) working with Pepperdine University in Uganda making access to justice being a reality for everyone by handling plea bargain and public defense cases. He is also currently working as the Co-Founder and Kampala Operational Lead for Threads of Hope Global.
